✅ Description:
Indapamide is a sulfonamide-derived diuretic related to thiazides. It lowers blood pressure by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the kidney’s cortical dilution segment, leading to increased excretion of sodium, chloride, and—less so—potassium and magnesium. This diuretic effect reduces blood volume and supports antihypertensive action.
Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker (dihydropyridine class), lowers blood pressure by blocking calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac cells. This results in vasodilation and decreased peripheral resistance.

Recommended Dose: 1 tablet once daily, preferably in the morning.

Special Populations:
Children/Adolescents: Not recommended; safety and efficacy not established.
Renal Impairment: Contraindicated in severe impairment (CrCl <30 ml/min). No dose change needed in mild/moderate cases.
Hepatic Impairment: Contraindicated in severe liver disease. Use with caution in mild/moderate cases; start at the lowest effective dose.

- Hypersensitivity to indapamide, amlodipine, other sulfonamides, or dihydropyridines
- Severe kidney dysfunction (CrCl <30 ml/min)
- Hepatic encephalopathy or severe liver damage
- Low potassium levels (hypokalaemia)
- During breastfeeding
- Severe hypotension or shock (e.g., cardiogenic shock)
- Obstruction of left ventricular outflow (e.g., severe aortic stenosis)
- Unstable heart failure post-myocardial infarction
✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation
Not recommended during pregnancy. If pregnancy is planned or confirmed, switch to a safer alternative as advised by your doctor.
Breastfeeding is contraindicated. Inform your doctor if you are currently breastfeeding or planning to do so.
